Our unique Chromazones™ technique -pioneered on Bass Legends- grew out of the need to solve a basic problem: Phrase sampling is an intriguing and inspiring way to use a sampler. However, most libraries that have instrument phrases, offer them in only one key signature. This obviously limits how they can be used. Our Chromazones™ technique solves this limitation in a simple way. By sampling the artist playing the same phrase in every key signature, we can then map the phrases on the sampler in chromatic zones (hence the name). For example, on Vocal Planet we had the R&B Background singers sing and revoice the same phrase in all 12 keys. While it's very difficult to record, Chromazones™ samples are extremely useful when they are finished. Since the timing and tempo across all the keys is the same, you can even "play" the phrases to make new ones!
