Watch out...this one is scary!
Tob cranks Trilogy to "11" here with a great example of the Trilogy Classic Rock Pick Bass, by running it through IK Multimedia's excellent Amplitube plug-in (which is a killer combo with Trilogy). The advantage of using an amp or speaker cabinet emulator plug-in with Trilogy, is that you get ultimate flexibilty in tone, since the amp sound isn't "locked" into the raw samples. This way, you can easily have the tone be aggresive like in this demo, or more muted and mellow (like in the bridge of Chris O'Brien's "Block Rock" demo). The other thing that makes this demo so convincing is the use of Trilogy's "True Upstroke" patches on the Pick Bass. This allows you to alternate downstroke and upstroke picking which makes those fast metal triplets really shred, without sounding cheesy and fake...like most pick bass samples! All the synth stuff and guitarish parts in the bridge are Trilogy too.
Great work Tob....now get back to your mosh pit!
