The Akai/Emu CD-ROM versions of all Groove Control libraries are in Akai S-3000 format. They have been tested and modified to be fully compatible with Akai S-1000, 2000, 3000, and the S-5000/6000 series. S-1000 users need to use the more recent software updates that can read the S-3000 format. Because of the huge number of samples in the GC Volumes, S-1000-3200 users will frequently be unable to load all the programs and samples from a Volume at the same time. However, Groove Control™ can be used with these samplers by loading individual programs (Load Programs & Samples). This is not an issue for the 5000/6000 series. Multis are provided in the GC Volumes that will work with the Akai S-2000, S-3000XL and the S-5000/6000. GC programs are also assigned to specific MIDI channels, for the earlier Akais.

Emu EOS 4.0 or higher is required to read the Akai S-3000 format. The Akai/Emu CD-ROM versions of all Groove Control libraries have been tested and modified to be fully compatible with Emu EOS Samplers (E-4, E-6400, E-5000, etc). Currently, Emu EOS users must set up Multis and MIDI channels manually, matching the program/channel in the sampler to the corresponding track/channel in the sequence. Groove Control™ libraries are NOT compatible with Ensoniq ASR, Emu E-IIIx or Emu ESI series samplers, unless Emu decides to upgrade these machines to read S-3000 format. (unlikely)

Compatibility testing on the Akai/Emu CD-ROM versions are also performed for BitHeadz Unity DS-1 version 1.3 and Osmosis 1.2.2 or higher. Unity works very well for Groove Control, once the GC programs have been converted to Unity format. We recommend setting the Buffer Length to 32 and the Headroom to 0 in the Unity Control Panel. This will give the best timing and sound quality.

Digidesign SampleCell is not supported in a native format for Groove Control libraries. We recommend using BitHeadz Osmosis™ conversion application in combination with our Akai CD-ROM versions.

Kurzweil K-2000 users must have version 3.0 or higher software to access the native Kurzweil CD-ROM version. All versions of the K-2500 and K-2600 should work fine with this library. Kurzweil users must set up Multis and MIDI channels manually. (Match the program/channel in the Kurzweil to the corresponding track/channel in the sequence).

The native Roland CD-ROM version of Groove Control™ libraries are designed for Roland 700 series samplers and compatible devices such as the Roland XV-5080.

In order to use the native Cubase sequences, Cubase 4.0 or higher for Mac, and Cubase 3.5 or higher for PC is required. The MIDI files can also be used if you have an earlier version of Cubase.
